Our Team

Last Saturday night we all went to the park to play baseball. It was a beautiful night because it was overcast and not too hot. It was nice to get out and do something a little different than Saturday's work, shopping, etc. The kids were excited to go.
Kent was the coach.
We started out by having throwing lessons and playing catch.
I was working on getting a ball blown up to keep the little ones happy and entertained. That was a workout just getting that thing blown up!
Next we had batting practice.
Even I got in on the action. It was fun. I was smokin' that little wiffle ball with my plastic bat! This picture made me laugh. I was having Camille take pictures of me batting. In this picture, I caught the ball because I knew she wasn't going to get a good picture. It's all about getting a good picture, right? :) I drive Kent crazy with taking pictures sometimes!
Even Morgan got in on the baseball lessons. What a good girl, she was really trying to pay attention to her daddy.
I think she was more interested in a hug than any coaching tips from Dad.
McCray was LOVING this. He played ball the whole time. He actually has a pretty good arm. The other kids got bored and went and played on the play ground. When we were ready to leave and he realized he didn't get to play on the toys, he was a little mad. But he didn't notice at the time, because he was so into it.
Morgan of course can't leave home without one of her babies. They go everywhere we do. Is it any wonder that they are filthy?
What a great team we have. I sure love all of these guys, and I wouldn't choose any other team to be a part of.

After about an hour and a half of fun....
Our coach called it a wrap, and said it was time to go home.
And after the hard work and exercise, of course you have to come home to a treat! We had ice cream sundaes. It was a nice end to a fun night.

July 24th

We didn't do too much for the 24th, but we had a nice day. I would have loved to take the kids to the Days of 47 Parade downtown, but I was babysitting that day, and I knew I couldn't take 5 kids by myself and stay sane. Maybe next year. I did take the kids on a walk in the neighborhood in the middle of the hot day. I talked to them about the pioneers and how they didn't have scooters, strollers and bikes to make their walk easier. Thankfully for us, we only walked around the block and not across the country. I can't imagine. While we were talking about pioneers, McCray was asking me to tell him stories about when I was little. I guess he must think I am old enough to be a pioneer.

That afternoon we made little covered wagon snacks. That was a cute idea if any of you ever want to try it. Basically, you take 2 graham cracker quarters, and stick them together to make the wagon box. Then you glue the wagon box onto a whole graham cracker. Put frosting on the top of the wagon box, and put two BIG marshmallows on top of this to make the wagon cover. Then we took two animal crackers, stick them together with frosting, and stick them on to the whole graham cracker, in the front of the wagon. Put 4 mini marshmallows on for the wheels, and then, Viola! A covered wagon.

Camille's horses were tired, and fell over from exhaustion.

I hope you all had a nice day too!

You learn something new every day

Miss Morgan and I got a take a little field trip this afternoon... to the Instacare. We had some friends from St George stop by and visit. While we were visiting Morgan let me know that she had something up her nose. What? After inspecting it, we could see that she had what we thought was a little green plastic bee-bee. We tried to get it out with tweezers- no luck. We got a baby nose sucker tool to see if that would work. Struck out again. We finally decided that it was not going to come out, and that we needed to find someone who actually knew what they were doing see if they could get it out. So off we went to Instacare. It is a little embarrassing trying to explain to the doctor that you have no idea how she did that when you were sitting right there. Morgan was not excited about having to have someone digging up in her nose. It took four of them to hold her down. Finally the Dr. got it out. It ended up being a green glow in the dark little pony bead thing. Nice. They gave her this sucker afterward, so she got over the crying thing pretty fast. So much for my Sunday afternoon nap! :)

Everyone make a mental note here- if this ever happens to you, 2 of the nurses, and then the doctor told me the home remedy for getting things out of your kids nose if they are stuck- plug the nostril that does not have anything in it with your finger. Then do like you are going to give mouth to mouth, and blow it out of their nose. Thankfully we did not have to get to this point, but how great to know that now if we ever have anything like this happen again. Hopefully she has learned her lesson, and the others are too old to try that.

4th of July Parade and Party in the Park

We went to Cedar City for the Fourth of July. We had a great time. It was nice to get away for a few days. Our tradition (the last few years) is to go to the parade, and then to a little party they have in the park. We usually see people we know, and it is always enjoyable. The parade, I have to admit, is not my favorite. The kids got some candy, so they thought it was fun. I thought it was HOT. Morgan was really tired, which made it not so much fun. Here are some pictures of the family at the park.

The kids all participated in the running races. I don't have pictures, but it was fun. They divided up the ages, and let them run! It was fun to watch. Everyone got a prize, so they were motivated to try. It was a fun morning. I was amazed at how many people I saw that I knew from Vegas. I guess it must be the place to go!

Here are some shots of family:
1. Camille and Tyler
2. Jessica with Emery who is starting to walk. Exciting!
3. The kids enjoyed the dunking booth. None of them hit the target, but they sure had fun trying!
4. Anna stuck a pose for me.
5. Reed loves getting pictures taken. He's always a willing subject.
6. Morgan got a hold of some taffy from the parade. It was fun watching her try to figure out how to eat it!

July 4th BBQ at Grandma and Grandpa Miles

We had a fun BBQ in Grandma and Grandpa Miles backyard for the Fourth. They have it fixed up so nice. It was a beautiful evening, not too hot. We had great food, the kids played, and they even had a water fight. It was an enjoyable evening.
1. Reed enjoyed swinging from the apple tree
2.  Morgan loved going down the slide over and over again.
3. Guess who was having a great time with squirt guns? Yep, McCray!
4. Kent and I had a "photo-shoot" in the backyard. He co-operated with me in getting pictures taken of us. I was happy because he does not love having pictures taken. I swear, we had SO many taken, and the pickings of good ones was SLIM.
5. I thought this was a really nice picture of my Mother in Law, Palma
6. Anna and Ammon. They were going to town sneaking in the watermelon bowl. SO CUTE!
7. Camille was taking it easy on the back steps.

I love summer nights and this time of year. AHHHH!

Mandi's Shower

We did a baby shower for Mandi and her new baby Emma in St George. It was really a lot of fun. We had brunch at a new restaurant in town- 21 Main St. ( I think it was 21?) It was very modern and decorated pretty neat. I had to chuckle a little. The style reminded me of our kitchen when I was a little girl. It is funny how those styles that used to make us laugh when we looked at pictures, are so in and cool right now. Sorry the pictures are fuzzy. I am SAD. Oh well.

We are so excited for Bruce and Mandi and their boys to have Emma in their Family. It was really fun to go down and have a girls day with Mandi. We also went to Tai Pan trading. I have wanted to go there for a long time. All I can say is WOW! Good thing I don't have a home to decorate. I wasn't tempted at all. It was neat though. Fun Day!

Gymnastics Club

Camille has been doing a little gymnastics club one day a week at the school playground. My friends daughter is a gymnast and is doing this for girls Camille's age. She has really enjoyed it. While she is practicing, we play on the playground. It is really nice because there is a lot of shade. The kids love to play, and I love to get the kids out of the house. The other Moms come too, so it is also a nice social break for me. All around it is a great thing!
The swings always seem to be a big hit with the kids.
l
Morgan always stays close to Mom. She loves playing in the rocks.
The kids always come home filthy because of the dust from the rocks.
These are the little gymnasts. The girl on the back right is Daryl, their little teacher. She is very good with them.
This is a video of the little dance that the girls learned. The camera man wasn't the best at getting them all in the picture.

We are mobile

Kent has a friend at work who gave him a bike the other day. It is nice- an older model, but it is great, and we were very excited. We decided that we should look around at garage sales for a bike for me. This was a someday thing, not necessarily right now. Well, we were in DI about a week later, and I found a nice bike that was a good deal. So, we all had bikes (except Morgan). We were pretty excited. We realized that it was hard to all ride bikes together because someone would need to stay with Morgan. So we decided that at some point we would need to find a way to take Morgan along too. I was telling my friend Shannon about my new bike, and she asked if we had a bike trailer. She said they had one that we could have if we wanted it. Incredible! I was so excited. So, we are all decked out now. We can go on family bike rides. Reed had been beside himself with excitement and trying to get us to get the trailer hooked up all last week. He literally asked non-stop. So Saturday night, we took a family bike ride. It was really fun. Morgan LOVED riding in the trailer. In fact, she loves to just sit in it when she is outside. What a great thing to be able to do as a family.

This is my bike with the trailer attached

Reed and Morgan riding in style. You can't tell that Reed is happy, can you? Notice that of course, Morgan has not left her bear and Foo Foo at home.

Can you tell that Camille isn't happy? This is the best smile she said she could do. We had just told her she couldn't have anything more to eat because she didn't eat her dinner. Mean parents!

This is Kent's new-to-him bike

McCray and Kent after the ride.

Sorry to disappoint you all- I didn't take any pictures of Kent and I wearing our helmets. I know they protect you, but they sure do look dumb. I had a good laugh when I saw Kent wearing his. I don't want to know what I looked like!
