Camille's 8th Birthday

Camille's birthday was on October 7th. She turned 8 this year. It is hard to believe that she can be that old. times flies way too fast. I do birthday parties when our kids are 4 or 5, 8, and who knows when else. Not every year though. This year was Camille's friend party. We celebrated her birthday on Tuesday with our family, and then had the friend party on Friday. I let the kids choose a meal to have for dinner, and they get to use the "birthday plate." She chose fettuccine alfredo with broccoli.

She has been in love with the American girl dolls and books. She has read the sets of books for most of the characters. She read the Josephina set first, and has loved Josephina. I have to admit that I love Josephina too. She is from New Mexico, and having grown up there, I think she is pretty neat. So, Camille got Josephina for her birthday. It was a fun surprise for her.
Camille had a doll themed birthday party. We had everyone bring a doll to the party. I think that it turned out fun, and everyone had a good time. We played American Girl bingo, had each of the girls make matching bracelets for themselves and their dolls, and then I made little doll quilts for each of them. They all signed each others doll quilts.

At the end of the party, Camille gave each of the girls a headband that she (with some help) made. They were pretty excited about them. When they all put them on, we realized that they were pretty wide- they looked almost like bandannas. Oh well, it was ok. Camille had a nice time, and she has some really nice friends. I am very grateful for that!

What a fun party idea! I am very impressed. I might have to use that idea in a few years.

The quilts turned out so cute! I've never seen Josephina before. I'll bet Camille loves her.
